Poetry Slams

This is a regular qualifier slam. There will be a drawing for 6 performance spots at 7:35 sign-up at 7:00. If you don’t get drawn for that you will go in the next lottery which will happen at 8:00. Unless there are 12 poets or less, then everybody will slam.
We’re excited to announce that Moksha! Hot Yoga in Minneapolis is sponsoring our qualifier tournaments and providing cash prizes:
$100 for 1st Place
$60 for 2nd Place
$40 for 3rd Place
Poets: You will have 3 minutes to do whatever you want in the name of poetry you have written. There will be three rounds.
Audience: Show up! Be judges! Make some noise! Welcome back all the poets from Nationals. Have some food and drinks! It will be a spectacular night of poetry.

Word Ninja Open Mic: March 13

Word Ninjas is the Rockstar Storytellers monthly open mic night, taking place the second Tuesday of every month at Kieran’s Irish Pub in downtown Minneapolis. Sign-up begins at 8pm, and the show starts at 8:30pm. Suggested $3 donation at the door.
In true open mic fashion, everyone who signs up gets 5 minutes to do… whatever they want! Unjuried, uncensored (within reason, people) and unpredictable. Stand-up, slam poetry, storytelling, traditional poetry, folk tales, monologue, literary readings — if words are your weapon, we want you on our stage.
Each show is hosted by one of our very own Rockstar Storytellers, and another Rockstar typically does a feature set somewhere in the line-up. Word Ninjas also features special touring guests and the occasional surprise local celebrity! (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.)
